Castle Barn Quarry in the North Cotswolds is a natural, new source of Cotswold stone ideally suited for roof tiles synonymous with the region. Geologically dependent, this stone’s charm and appearance is unique to the area. Although extensively copied, manufactured concrete reproductions are unable to offer the same weathering qualities as natural stone.
Castle Barn Quarry, Sarsden, is situated a little way up the Evenlode valley from Stonesfield. As a result of its suitable Geology, Castle Barn can supply a new sustainable source of Cotswold Stone Roof Tiles from a Bioturbated Strata of Cotswold Jurassic Limestone some 170million years old. The stone displays an identical aesthetical characteristic to the renowned and established Stonesfield slate.
Castle Barn has over fifteen years experience quarrying Cotswold Limestone and is now able to supply this new stone solely for use as roof tiles.
