There are still a few original flagstone floors within the Cotswolds well in excess of two hundred years old, they are easily recognisable as being original because of the way they have been laid.
Traditionally Cotswold Stone floors were laid in courses, usually the short way across the room in random lengths, the courses would vary from 12 to 36 inches wide depending on which area of the Cotswolds they were from.
